Shirley Yeung Doesn't Need To Be Sexy To Make Money

Shirley Yeung took part in a skincare promotion yesterday where she was given an award for the 'Best Vitality Skin' and although it is nothing major, she was smiling away as she received it, showing there was some happy news for her. After much questioning, she reveals that she has accepted an offer to shoot a film, alongside Roger Kwok, Yuen Wah and Yuen Chau, which comes with a six figure fee and does not need her to be sexy, so no wonder she is smiling so broadly. Asked if she will be buying herself a new car as a reward for herself, she smiles that she already has one, so she will not buy another just yet.

As for the award, which part of her skin does she feel is the best? She thinks a little while and then says: "My back! (Has your boyfriend complimented how smooth your back is?) No, I rarely let him see my back. (Surely not?) Because we talk to each other face to face, so I will not turn my back to him." Shirley says that in this industry you have to wear make-up a lot, so this can make your skin very poor, but fortunately she asks her colleagues for their skincare tips and her mother makes her soup, so this helps to improve her skin a lot.

Shirley Yeung Continues To Make More Money

While Shirley Yeung was at the "39th TVB Anniversary Extravaganza" show yesterday, she was asked about her boyfriend Gregory Lee's remarks how he didn't want her to dress overly sexy to make money. She says: "It's only for work. He understands in some ways, but deep down I know he doesn't like me wearing those clothes." (In the future, would you cut down on sexy appearances?) "This is the company's decision. What accessories and clothes I wear, will determine on how the stage or event I'm attending."

Shirley also expresses that earlier because of Steven Ma's incident they have temporarily stopped filming "Predicting Fate", but now the filming will start again ?so work outside the acting industry will be less done, focusing on the work in filming this serie. When being asked about receiving a lot of work lately and getting a higher pay, Shirley says: "I have recently received a six figure sum tax bill and it's awful! So I hope to receive additional work and make more money." (Do you think your wages are going to increase?) "I don't think so."

Hong Kong Disney Princesses Revealed

Disneyland Hong Kong held a vote earlier to select which of six artistes and models would be most suited to play their princess characters in the forthcoming Princess Parade. The results were announced yesterday and Annie Liu was chosen to be Snow White, the slimmed down Myolie Wu was selected as Belle from 'Beauty and the Beast', Shirley Yeung emerged as Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid', Mandy Cho took the role of 'Sleeping Beauty' Aurora, Ankie Bui was elected as Jasmine from 'Aladdin' and model Amanda Strang was given the role of Cinderella.

Shirley indicates that Ariel's love story is quite similar to her own in that it is very romantic and she has given up a lot for her love. Asked what she has given up for Gregory Lee, she smiles not that much and says she has been very happy in the three years she has been with him and he often buys her little gifts. Talking of the debate surrounding the results of the anniversary awards, Shirley says that the event was very good this year because it was linked with the sales presentation. Does she feel the winners deserved their awards? Shirley says she will not think about this matter. She is happy she won an award and she will not bother about other things. She feels that every artiste has given for their work and everyone should admire this from a different perspective and give fair comment.

2006 TVB Anniversary Awards Results

The Annual TVB Anniversary Awards Ceremony was held at TVB City in Tseung Kwan O yesterday evening and after much speculation over the past few weeks as to who would take the Best Actress and Best Actor awards, Charmaine Sheh, Myolie Wu, Kevin Cheng and Joe Ma were the favourites for the evening. The evening belonged to Charmaine though, who took both the Best Actress and the My Favourite TV Character awards, proving her worth after nine years in showbiz, whilst 'Son of TVB' Kevin beat Joe to the top spot, taking Best Actor.

With his huge rise in popualarity following "The Dance of Passion", Kenny Wong took the award for Best Supporting Actor after ten years in the background and he gave special thanks to Ada Choi, Charmaine Sheh and Maggie Siu. He also thanked the media and indicated he would keep the award at his home. He did mention that he had forgotten to thank Virginia Lok on the stage because he was too nervous. After receiving the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in "Always Ready", Shirley Yeung thanked her manager and was a little teary. She admitted that the other more senior artistes all did a really good job, so she never imagined that she would receive this award, but she felt that playing a disabled person was a meaningful experience. She reveals that she once met a disabled person who indicated their story was very similar to her character's and she hopes to be able to try more characters that are as challenging. Will she be celebrating with her boyfriend? She says maybe, or she might spend the evening at home with her dogs. As for forgetting to thank her boyfriend on the stage, she smiles that she forgot on the stage and she forgot off the stage too.

2006 TVB Sales Presentation - Bernice Steals The Show

Before the awards ceremony last night, TVB held its Sales Presentation for 2007 and in a change to the past where the artistes were made to perform, an acrobatics troupe provided the live entertainment for the evening. The artistes were lined up on stage in what appeared to be in the order of their importance at TVB. MC Carol Cheng was stood in the centre with the artistes either side of her. The arrangements for female artistes were Liza Wang, Ada Choi, Gigi Lai, Charmaine Sheh, Myolie Wu, Sonija Kwok, Sheren Tang, Yoyo Mung, Bernice Liu, Louisa So, Tavia Yeung, Angela Tong, Christine Ng, Shirley Yeung and Linda Chung. For the men, Roger Kwok is still in the middle, followed by Bobby Au Yeung, Moses Chan, Kevin Cheng, Steven Ma, Joe Ma, Raymond Lam, Ron Ng, Bosco Wong, Sunny Chan and Kenneth Ma.

Shirley Yeung wore a peach halterneck dress by Barney Cheng that had a little peephole in the stomach area. She accessorised this with jewellery worth $10 million. Shirley admitted to being rather afraid at wearing such valuable jewels, so she is often looking at the ground as she walks for fear of falling over. Myolie wore a seethrough backless outfit and was sponsored with jewellery worth $5 million. Angela Tong joined the spirit of the 39th Anniversary as her jewellery amounted to exactly $390,000, whilst Sonija Kwok sported diamonds worth $7 million.

Brochures detailing the new series for next year were distributed to the prospective advertising sponsors and Linda Chung and Shirley Yeung had the most series features, numbering three each, one more than leading ladies Charmaine Sheh and Gigi Lai. As for the men, Ron Ng has three series and Steven Ma has two. TVB will be welcoming its fortieth anniversary year by reviving some of its classic shows, such as "Super Trio Show", "Enjoy Yourself Tonight", "Nat Chan's Lucky Star" and "Beautiful Cooking", which will mutate into "Beautiful Classroom". TVB Broadcasting General Manager Mr Cheong Shin-Keong reported that the mid-year reports have fallen by 4% on last year, but denies that this has been affected by Pay Vision.

Shirley Yeung Prepares $10 Million Diamonds For Anniversary

TVB's Anniversary Awards Ceremony will be taking place this evening and the extravaganza will take place on 19th. For her attendance at these star-studded events, Shirley Yeung has taken some time out to visit her sponsors 3D-Gold to try on three sets of diamond jewellery, worth a total of $10 million. Afterwards, Shirley indicates her favourite was the second set, entitled 'Spring Beauty' that features multicoloured precious stones. She also liked the final set, which looked very pure, even though it had a lot of diamonds set into it. For her outfit, she has called upon the services of local designer Barney Cheng and the styling is a little alluring to show off her great figure.

At this year's awards, Shirley has been nominated for 'Best Actress' for her role in "The Biter Bitten" and 'Best Supporting Actress' in "Always Ready". However, she is leaving the results down to destiny and she feels that to be nominated already makes her very happy. Asked which series she preferred, she says that she really likes her role in "Always Ready" because the character was a disabled person and without the expressions through body language, she had to convey her role through dialogue and expression alone, so this was quite challenging.
