Stephen Chan Quizzes Shirley Yeung About Freeze Rumours

TVB general manager Stephen Chan invited Shirley Yeung and Sammy Leung to be his guests on his latest talk show. On the show, guests are given the chance to "appeal" to the boss about anything that may be bothering them as well as share a vegetarian meal.

Stephen asked Shirley whether or not she had been "frozen" by the company and she immediately denied this, explaining that her earlier absence from TVB was due to a number of external jobs. Shirley was then asked by reporters whether or not she would be appealing to Stephen about the stories of TVB preventing her from dating fellow TVB artiste Gregory Lee. She said that this was not the case and she will just let the conversation flow.

Stephen later explained to the press that he was just joking with Shirley and pointed out that the company did not stop their employees from dating, because this is natural among young people, but they do hope that artistes will keep this low profile, so that it does not affect their work. He added that the experience of dating often enhances their acting skills.

Shirley was asked about the news of Lydia Sum's readmission to hospital today and she recalled that her first hosting job after winning Miss Hong Kong was working alongside Lydia on the Children's Song Awards show. Shirley said that as she was a newcomer at the time, she was very nervous, but Lydia helped her and taught her, chatted with her and put her at ease. Shirley also worked with Lydia on her first stage appearance in Las Vegas and again she learned a lot from the experienced host. She wished Lydia a speedy recovery.

Stephen said that he had kept in close contact with Lydia and he was aware that she had to go to hospital for some chemotherapy this week. He hopes that this is just a routine visit to hospital and hopes that her health will return rapidly.

TVB Artiste Status Revealed In Anniversary Photocall

The photocall during TVB Anniversary events have always been the focus of scrutiny to discover how the rankings of artistes have moved over the year. However, at the start of the anniversary celebrations today, there were no surprises at the current line up.

They were joined in the centre by Lee Si Kei and Susanna Kwan, whose popularity has soared this year. On Si Kei's side were Gigi Lai, Tavia Yeung, Bernice Liu , Kate Tsui and Shirley Yeung. On Susanna's side were Charmaine Sheh, Myolie Wu, Yoyo Mung, Linda Chung and Christine Ng.

For the male artistes on the second row, the important centre spots were taken by Bobby Au Yeung and Natalis Chan. On Natalis's side were Roger Kwok, Steven Ma, Joe Ma, Dayo Wong, Patrick Tang, Wong Yi Hing and Michael Tse. Bobby's side spanned out as Kevin Cheng, Moses Chan, Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Ron Ng and Sammul Chan.

Fala Chen has seen a steep rise in popularity this year, but still remained on the third row for the photograph.

Shirley Yeung Insists That There Is Communication Between Her & Her Partner

Yesterday, Shirley Yeung and Lai Lok Yi appeared in thick coats at a function in the bustling streets of Causeway Bay. Although it is autumn, the weather is still extremely hot causing the two to sweat. (Is it more comfortable for you to parade around in swimsuits since you've taken part in so many swimsuit functions already?) Shirley says: "I'm actually afraid of the cold rather than the heart. Today's attire is similar that of wearing thick clothing filming an ancient series in summer!" (Do you prefer to take part in swimsuit shows or thick feather coats?) "I prefer to wear thicker clothes." (You need to reveal your body figure in a swimsuit show, so the fees are higher than the feather coats.) "Today's fees are about the same as the swimsuit shows. I'm very satisfied."

Moreover, Shirley when she was in Hunan the day before taking part of the dance competition, there have been reports saying that dance partner Jason Cheung took advantage of her. Even though, Shirley did not clarify this matter, you will come into contact with someone's body while dancing. Before the performances, Jason and Shirley had already discussed this issue, and the two believe that they will not "take advantage" of each other. (How are you going to explain this to your boyfriend?) Shirley says: "Everyone understands what the issue is; I don't need to explain it to him." (Has your middle finger recovered yet?) "I have broken a bone and the doctors have already helped me bandaged it up, it's much better now."

Sonija Kwok & Shirley Yeung Not Disappointed After Being Defeated In Dance Competition

Last night was the finals for the dance competition, "Strictly Come Dancing" and even though Sonija Kwok and Shirley Yeung both performed in pairs, it wasn't as good as Michael Tse's perfect performance!

"Strictly Come Dancing" is held in Hunan. The participants are seen to rehearse day and night, and Shirley Yeung even injured herself before the finals - this shows how serious they are about it! Last night, the participants representing Hong Kong were Michael, Shirley, Sonija and Carlo Ng.

As the saying goes, "people depend on the clothing they wear", Shirley and Sonija both wore very sexy outfits onstage which showed their strengths to their opponents. The competition is divided into three rounds, when they first start, the pair will jump around crazily. Sonija continues to face up to the highest point in the challenge, but Carlo holding Sonija in the second round, suddenly loses grip and she falls to the ground - which immediately lost them points. At the end of the round, their performance was really good, and the judges even gave their perfect scores, but it was too late.

As for Shirley's performance, she frequently is being "flinged" by people, but doesn't show any signs of tiredness. Although she uses the "show thighs technique" and her partner even touched her "southern hemisphere", she lost out to the 20 year-experienced "dancing king", Michael!

As for being defeated, Sonija is not disappointed at all: "I'm quite satisfied! This is the first time I ever got a perfect score and I couldn't hold back my tears. No matter how the results went, I'm still going to be happy!" On the other hand, Shirley says: "I'm not disappointed, I actually miss it. Now, I realize I do have some potential for dancing!"

Shirley Yeung Injures Herself Before The Finals

For the dance competition "Strictly Come Dancing", Shirley Yeung has managed to enter the finals. Even though she must carry on 'fighting?tonigh', when Shirley was rehearsing last night, she had to do the splits in mid-air and when she raised her left hand, it hit the ceiling. X-ray results show that the bones in her left hand middle finger had broken. However, she insists on performing regardless.

After so many eliminations, Shirley, Sonija Kwok, Carlo Ng and Michael Tse remain to compete in the finals, plus 4 other Hunan representatives. Among the females from Hong Kong, Shirley's performance is the best. After she had injured herself, she wasn't able to hold her tears when she did a long distance call home: "At that time, I did splits in mid-air with one arm raised. I didn't know the ceiling was so low and so my left hand hit it. I felt nothing afterward, it hurt so much. Now, the x-ray results say that my middle finger is broken and I'm not in the mood at all. As for the competition, I cannot wear a cast. However, jive performances have many hand movements, so I'm worried about it affecting my performances."

Shirley expresses that since participating in the competition, she has never thought of the question about winning or losing, but it's only until the moment you injure yourself you will worry about your performances. She says: "We perform in pairs, so what I'm most unhappy about it affecting Jason Cheung's (Hunan representative) performance. Luckily, he understands and can forgive me. Same with my mum, they both comfort and support me - then I'm not as unhappy. I will try my best."

Host Of "After Bitter Comes The Sweet": Shirley Yeung Explains The History Of Chinese Herbal Tea

Earlier, Shirley Yeung has been invited to host an episode of a program about Chinese literature. Although Shirley graduated from an Institute, she has not been able to study the purpose of the applications. This time being able to film a physical educational program, it makes her very excited. Shirley says: "I can continue my dream of cultivating one person with my abilities, of course I'm happy. Before I entered the industry, I frequently helped physical educational programs film mandarin shows."

Shirley Yeung & Lai Lok Yi: A Rare Friendship

Lai Lok Yi has only entered the entertainment industry for three years and has made many friends throughout that short period of time. He says that because he is not much competition to compete with, so that's why he's got so many friends! Moreover, one of TVB's fa dan, Shirley Yeung sighs that she has not many friends. Luckily her manners are extremely well, so a number of veterans really like her. The two each have their own way of survival!

It Is Easier To Communicate With Not Much Competition
Friends can be with you when you happy or when you are sad. However, in the obvious 'fighting for limelight' entertainment industry, is it that easy for find a good friend?! As Ekin Cheng and Yoyo Mung's matchmaker, Lok Yi is counted as a one who can "determine destiny" and even Shirley must ask him for some teachings!

Lok Yi: I remember working with Shirley for the first time when we were filming "Always Ready", because you portray my girlfriend, so there were many scenes were the two of us came in contact. At that time, I thought that this girl was so rare, because no matter on or off-screen she seemed the same!

Shirley: Oh no! So you're laughing at me saying that I'm the same when I act and in real life?

Lok Yi: No, like Dayo Wong, in front of the cameras he would always make people happy and would have a lot to say, but off-screen he has many thoughts to ponder and does not say a word!

Shirley: That's right, like you. For many years you didn't speak much, but now you're like a 'opened cage bird'! How come there is such a big change?

Lok Yi: When I first entered the industry, I didn't know anything and I didn't dare to say too much worrying that I'll hurt others. Now I know what to do, I'm meant to treat every person in a different way. I quite playful with many female artistes, like Tavia Yeung, Emme Wong and Natalie Tong, etc, but Shirley is more special. You've always been a good girl and you already have publicized your other half, so I'm worried if I ask you to go out with me to play, reporters will make up a lot of stories.

Shirley: Maybe because I'm a quieter person, I don't usually go out and play. So I really admire you that you can meet so many good friends in the entertainment circle. Every time you film a series you can meet even more people, but after filming it's quite hard to meet up again. I think it's hard to open my heart.

Lok Yi: Friends? I have a lot! Many people laugh that I'm not much competition so the ones that I've worked with can't be enemies. The biggest reason as to why I stayed in this industry because I like the feeling of a big group of people working together. It's like working with Tavia, I really want to see her everyday so after wee filming the series it's quite upsetting.

Shirley: I believe the viewpoint of you and I becoming friends is different. One doesn't need too many friends, if you have a problem, it's impossible to say it twenty-thirty times and it is difficult to maintain too many friends. I have a few students which I'm still friends with and I think that's already enough.

Lok Yi: I think it is much easier for people who think alike to be together. For example, it is hard for a person who is fairly emaciated to become friends or hang out with a group of people who likes water skiing or mountain climbing. There is always a chance where they will forget him, or even lose him. Before, a lot of people say that I'm Ekin and Yoyo's "matchmaker", but the two already knew each other! It's not like Shirley doesn't have any friends in the entertainment circle, I know that you and Linda Chung are great friends!

Shirley: It really depends on fate for people to become friends. Linda and Heidi Chu are two of my closest friends in the industry, but I don't know why I like to 'open my heart' to veterans more, like Michelle Yim. Every time I come across something I'm unhappy about, I really hope that I can share it with her. I know she can give me a lot of advice. When I was filming "Blade Heart", Lisa Jie (Liza Wang) taught me a lot, I'm really thankful of her!

Stealing Performing Skill Techniques
In order to be stable in the entertainment industry, you cannot lack personal connections, but your own abilities are also important. Lok Yi says that his own acting skills have not reached its highest point. When Shirley portrayed as villain Sung Ka Yee in "The Brink Of Law", this gave the audience another view of who she really is!

Shirley: How old are you this year?

Lok Yi: I'm 26 this year.

Shirley: So young, bear with a few more years! As boys tend to have a longer line, girls hit puberty and get promoted earlier. Once 'epiphyllum's' appear, there are probably no more when you're 30 or older.

Lok Yi: Ha ha, don't let the company hear, I told the company that I was 35 years old. Actually I agree that female artistes need to promote themselves, but nowadays women who are over 30 can still have a women sense; it's harder for men who are 25 or younger, unless you have a lot of potential or fan club. If you don't, older women will complain that you're too young and have no men sense!

Shirley: I think that nowadays the most important thing is to regulate your acting skills, so I usually steal skills from veterans.

Lok Yi: I know that there are many areas that I am lacking in, especially in acting! Shirley Jie had received the "Most Outstanding Actor Award" at the 42nd Chicago International TV Festival, so did I really have to learn from you how to portray a villain?

Shirley: Push it all out, don't be so conservative. The more you worry about your acting skills the more worse it will become. When you're acting you must be devoted and don't relax completely when you're not working, you must balance the pressure of being an actor!

Addendum
On the day of photo shooting, Shirley was the target of paparazzi and reporters. Little did we know that she had been followed for a whole week now, Shirley sighs: "I already used to it, wonder what they'll make up now?!" In the end, Lok Yi had become one of Shirley's rumored boyfriends and it's hard to blame the male artistes that when they see Shirley they are able to evade the luck!

Sonija Avoids Shirley Without Taking Group Photo

Yesterday morning at 10:30am, Shirley Yeung Carlo Ng, Sonija Kwok and Michael Tse took off to participate in the dance competition "Strictly Come Dancing" in Hunan.

Earlier, there have been reports saying that Sonija and Shirley had rumors of incompatibility. That morning, the two were seen with their mothers and after the reporters took photos of them and asked some questions, they hurried off into the floodgate, successfully avoiding each other. Carlo blows in and when they were taking a group photo he looks at Shirley and says: "Sonija hasn't taken the group photo yet, I think she wants to avoid......" Shirley only smiled at his comment. Although there are rumors of incompatibility, Sonija expresses that in this competition she is supports Shirley.

"Forensic Heroes 2" Costume Fitting

No wonder Bobby Au Yeung was known as TVB's ratings guarantor. His series, "Fathers And Sons" had 37 points in average ratings in its finale week, peaking at 40 points! There were 2.59 million audience who tuned in to watch. "Fathers And Sons" was the program with the highest ratings last week.

Bobby appeared at the costume fitting for "Forensic Heroes 2" with Charmaine Sheh, Frankie Lam, Yoyo Mung, Shirley Yeung etc. As the producer of both "Fathers And Sons" and "Forensic Heroes 2," Miu Siu Ching turned the costume fitting into a celebration event! The champagne was popped to celebrate the high ratings!

Bobby laughed, "I am very happy that the ratings climbed an additional 5 points last week. I will treat for dinner. Ha Yu said he will bring along abalone!" Since "Forensic Heroes" will be filming a sequel, this demonstrated Bobby's ratings power. Bobby said, "I hope this series turns into a syndication similiar to American television program, CSI. Hopefully there will be a MK and Yau Ma Tei version for 'Forensic Heroes,' so that filming never ends!"

In the past, Charmaine and Shirley had rumors of incompatibility. At the costume fitting for "Forensic Heroes 2," the pair did not speak to each other and appeared to be awkward in their group photo. Charmaine said, "Shirley and I already worked together for the second time in "Always Ready". We will not have any scenes opposite each other in "Forensic Heroes 2". I do not remember our past rumors." Shirley said she did not have any problems working with Charmaine. Their past rumors were just a promotional tactic for their series.

Shirley Enters Top 5 Whereas Mandy & Sharon Is Out Of The Competition

The dance competition co-organized by TVB and Hunan TV "Strictly Come Dancing" participated by Shirley Yeung, Michael Tse and Joe Ma has successfully entered top 5, whereas Sharon Chan and the injured Mandy Cho was eliminated!

Mandy was not disappointed when she was eliminated and when she was practicing the Rumba dance she had pulled her back muscle but still had to perform injured. She says: "Even though I was eliminated, but I started off with no dancing experience whatsoever and being able to finish my dance is good experience for me. Moreover, Shirley, Sharon, Sonija and Michael really support me. Our team spirit is very good - we even dance day and night and so the biggest benefit is that I've gotten thinner and my body figure is more firm." As for the sexy outfit she wore, Mandy expressed that she had used a double-sided sticky tape to prevent exposure.

"Dancing's" production manager Siu Wei says: "Even though many of the participants do not have any dancing skills in beginning of the competition, but for Hong Kong and TVB, everyone they performs to the best of their ability. Among them, Shirley's performance is most open, and so her score is higher. As for both the two places' culture is different, when the participants from mainland perform, they pay a lot of attention to the whole performing package and this is an advantage; whereas participants from TVB pay attention to their dance steps and only understands a fair bit of the stage so therefore they lose out a bit."

Shirley Yeung Wears Clothes To Accompany Her Childhood

You can always change the clothes of paper dolls, but the 10 year or so memory will not fade away. From the hands in which little girls will have a few to today where they must have the games of Nintendo DS, paper dolls will still be in a certain area in the hearts of girls. The main idea of dolls is that you can always change their clothes and this can satisfy the idea that girls like to dress up - a dream of an ever-changing image.

The child inside Shirley Yeung loves to pass time in the pile of "beautiful clothes". Today, every time she sees a paper doll, she still seems like the girl she was and still thinks that they are great fun. Great fun, because the child inside her understands the meaning of being happy. When Shirley picked up the childhood toy, she immediately helps "them" change into new clothes and says: "If girls in their childhood they don't play cooking, they play being pretty. I used to have four or five of these paper dolls and I even made a closet for them to put their clothes in. Every time I put night gowns on them, I would always hope my figure when I'm older, would look as good as theirs."

Material Is Next Satisfied With Education
When playing with paper dolls, Shirley would remember the dolls she had played with: "At that time, not everyone had a Barbie doll. Even though I really hoped to have one, but never dared to ask my parents to buy me one. My schoolmates would hold their Barbie's and change their clothes, where I would hold my paper dolls and change theirs. Even though there is a difference, but it wasn't that feeling that made me feel ashamed, it was because I know my parent's material has already been given to my brother and I."

Every Girl's 'Warm Logo' Has Benefited Barbie
Shirley says: "It was until it was my birthday one year, my mum actually gave me a Barbie. I was so happy I even followed my grandmother and learnt how to knit a scarf for my Barbie. My first 'warm logo' was given to her. I kept my dolls until last year when we moved, because when I was young it wasn't what I wanted, I would have, so my knowledge of material isn't that strong. Living simple is enough for me."

Shirley believes that paper dolls can increase a child' imagination space: "irstly you can learn about beautiful clothes and secondly, you can help it make up dialogues. I would also complain about that the money for the doll' clothes isn' enough so I would personally design clothes for it. It is a very creative game."

Addendum
This is a popular 60s or 70s children's game. From wearing beautiful and elegant night gowns and flowery short dress to not many doll's clothes, changing to today's the star of a television cartoon show. When we would play with the dolls, we would always use scissors and carefully cut each clothes out and each doll out, now, talking about today's fast and convenient way, there are marks around the paper dolls, easy for children to cut them out.

Bosco & Shirley Attend Promotional Event For A Diamond Jewellery Company

Bosco Wong and Shirley Yeung yesterday attended a promotional event for a diamond jewellery company. At the function, Shirley wore jewellery, provided by organisers that were worth over $10 million, she commented, "I have never worn such expensive jewellery, this is my first time." (Do you feel stressed?) "I will be more careful but it is very safe here. I have bought diamond jewellery for my mother and myself before but my first time receiving it as a present was from my mum. I am yet to receive my second diamond gift." (Your boyfriend has not given you diamonds?) "I'm waiting to buy one myself, it would be more fulfilling." (How much carats would your wedding ring be?) "I have never thought about it, it is too early to say. But of course, the most important thing is that it's from someone special."

On the other hand, Bosco disclosed that he has never given diamond jewellery to girlfriends and that he would use a 3 carat or higher diamond ring to propose.

She reveals that she will be performing a cowboy dance and she is currently practicing for it. She laughs: "When we're practicing I always seem to step on myself and my foot is all sore now. But what I hope is that I won't step on someone else." (Is it hard when practicing?) "No, it's lots of fun. After the competition, I would hope to continue dancing."

Shirley Yeung Wins $150,000HK Because Of Boyfriend

Yesterday, Ronald Cheng, Michael Tse, Shirley Yeung and Cherie Ying were special guests in the television program "Taste Determines The Best". While filming, the issue about Shirley's relationship was the focus the whole time!

While being blind-folded, Shirley was holding an oyster in her mouth while Michael was next to her asking: "What's your boyfriend (Gregory Lee) called?" which then made Shirley eat it successfully! In addition, Shirley was also jeered about being beautiful but with no intelligence and was the target of the whole game. Luckily, in the end, with Michael as her partner, they won a total of $150,000HK of prizes and cash. She says: "It doesn't matter because we're playing a game! When I played games in the past, I would usually lose, so this time winning I would share it with my mum."

Shirley Yeung Isn't Worried About Boyfriend Getting Upset When Exchanging Phone Numbers With Hins Cheung

Yesterday the movie "Hearty Paw" held promotional function attended by many animal lovers such as Shirley Yeung, Lai Lok Yi, Krusty plus many others.

Shirley looks after 7 dogs at home, but because she is busy person, she spends little time with them. However, every time she returns to her house, the dogs will welcome her home. (Will you train your dogs to become dog doctors?) "If we have to train them, I'll train the biggest one because he knows how to jump and obey hand commands. He is also much more mature. But most important is whether I have time or not to train them."

Earlier there have reports saying that Hins Cheung had asked Shirley for her number. She says: "That day, Tracy Ip and I went out for a drink and both of us wanted to learn how to sing, so then we asked for Hins for a music teacher's number." (How come you didn't ask Hins to teach you instead?) "He's too busy." (Do you think that Hins has feelings towards you?) "No, don't get the wrong idea. We're all young people working." (Would your boyfriend get upset?) "No. Work is very normal. I also have male friends." (Did you say you were going to complain that Hins didn't give you a concert ticket?) "It was only a joke; because this is Hins first ever concert in 5 years and it's a pity if I don't get to attend." Shirley also believes that as friends, she should support them.

"ICAC Investigators 2007" will be aired this September and last night its premiere was held. Many artistes part of the series attended which included; Shirley Yeung, Anna Yau, Kara Hui, Kenny Wong, Raymond Wong and many more.

Shirley dressed very devotedly last night, wearing a low-cut dress; as for Chan Hoi Yee who wore a see-through attire fighting for the limelight, but Shirley has slightly won. Chan Hoi Yee expresses that they way she dressed was more mature and when asked if she was referring to being sexy, she laughs: "Maybe."

The day before when Shirley and her boyfriend Gregory attended Heidi Chu's birthday party, they were found by the reporters. Always been said that she was frozen, Shirley explains that recently there are a lot of friends' birthdays and attending parties are very normal. She believes that the newspapers headings are overly expressed, and thinks that she does not need to respond. (Are you afraid that it will affect your work?) "No, recently I have concentrated everything on work."

As for Heidi, she reveals that last night she did invite Shirley and Gregory to her party and Shirley gave her a pair of precious earrings as a present. Because it was her part and her good friend was taken pictures of, she believes that its her responsibility. (Do you support you good friend going out on dates, or are you on the company's side?) "It's up to the company's decision, but I think that you shouldn't put relationships first."
