Shirley Yeung Leaves Boyfriend Behind

Shirley Yeung and Matthew Ko took part in an inaugural event of a new charity fund today, where they also met the Chinese Ladies' Volleyball team.

When she met with the athletes, Shirley called out with surprise when she saw how tall the ladies were. She said that the charitable fund was a very meaningful gesture and after the Sichuan earthquake, she had expressed a wish to go and help the victims, especially in areas relating to education, because Shirley was a teacher before she entered showbiz.

Shirley will be joining the TVB broadcast team from the Beijing Olympics in August and she hopes to be able to cover the volleyball and diving events while she is there.

Asked if her boyfriend will be joining her in Beijing, Shirley said that the places were very limited, so she was very fortunate to join the team in the first place. She added that she will be away for her birthday and will not be spending it with her boyfriend this year.

Matthew has been busy filming for "Burning Flame 3" recently and said that he has lost 5 lbs through the hard work. Fortunately his neighbour has been making him soup to keep him nourished. He laughed that on one occasion, she made him some turtle soup and the turtle head appeared in his bowl, making him feel quite nauseated.

Matthew revealed that he suffered from high blood pressure when he lived in Canada, so his parents were very careful about his diet to regulate it. He added that he has become much healthier after entering showbiz, but will be heading back to Canada for a healthcheck soon.

Eric Suen Has Many Intimate & Kissing Scenes

Yesterday Eric Suen, Vivien Yeo and Shirley Yeung were in Causeway Bay for new series "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." Left and Right occupied, Eric said that in this series he has many intimate scenes: "many kissing scenes! I'm not worried of rumors, filming in the big streets you cannot avoid, then we won't even say our lines?" This is the first time he's filming a Hong Kong series, adding that he's a singer, each day there will be assistants by him. Recently it has been raining, Eric even has his assistant with an umbrella next to him when its time to film. But its obvious that he is ignoring the two beauties, even rumored girlfriend Vivien Yeo shows her anger: "Singers have always needed others to take care of them, in the past when I filmed MVs with him, he was like that too!"

Also, lately Viven has put hair extentions on causing misunderstandings from passerbyers that she is Fala Chen, she generously expresses that she does not mind: "maybe because I have always had short hair, resembling Fala, I'm happy, so 'hot'...I don't mind." In addition, Eric appeared in high heels, Viven said that the beauty and outer appearance is the most important.

Shirley Yeung: My Dad Is My Asylum Station

The seven day earthquake which struck Sichuan had destroyed a measureless number of families, making everyone realize how valuable families are. Leaving parents home for a while now due to work, Shirley Yeung chooses to return to their old home on Father’s Day with her dad and reminisce their past. The year Shirley entered the Miss Hong Kong pageant; her dad went to submit her entry form despite the heavy rain - and she had never forgotten that moment even till this very day.

Shirley says: “I remember when I was very young; my dad really liked taking me to the military compound where I would swim and just play a whole lot of aquatic activities. I have learnt so much from my dad. He has always been very strict towards my brother and I. We learnt manners and how to respect our teachers and their teachings. There are times when he wouldn’t say a word but through his eyes, I knew what to do.”

After being influenced by her dad, Shirley had actually thought about becoming a police officer, but because of her eyesight, there is no chance she will pass. She had never thought her dad holding her Miss Hong Kong pageant entry form will allow her to enter a new stage in life. Shirley says: “I have never thought about it after I filled in the form. It was the last day when you could submit the form, did my dad hand it in for me despite the rain. Luckily, I did not disappoint him this time.”

With the support of her dad, Shirley she entered the pageant and held nicknames coining her as innocent and obedient. At the time, she was still living with her parents and so was known as a "屋港姐". However, after taking home the 2001 Miss Hong Kong pageant winner title, promoted and started filming “Blade Heart” which was when her and Gregory Lee started dating, Shirley and her dad still share a close relationship despite that she had moved to live with her boyfriend.

Shirley is very optimistic. Every time she comes across something unhappy, she would forget it very quickly. Shirley says: “My house is my refuge shelter; my dad is my asylum station. No matter when I’m happy or upset, I can talk to my dad about it.” Looking at his daughter, Mr. Yeung says: “She hasn’t changed much ever since entering the industry - only becoming more mature. I can talk about anything with her. Sometimes I can elucidate to her, and tell her not to think about it if something troubles her. There are many different people in society, and I have seen her friends before. Shirley is a very filial daughter.”

Celebrating Father’s Day with her dad side-by-side, Shirley wishes her dad good health and hopes that all father’s in the world are also happy.

Shirley Yeung Tries "Organic Seafood"

In recent years, there was a "chance" that becoming a public figure who pursued for a healthy life was an important issue. Shops like those which sold organic vegetables opened more and so this showed that more people are willing to spend more money on healthier food. Early, Shirley Yeung had the chance to come into contact with organic seafood, realising that seafood which came from non-polluted water tasted very good, she says: "I have always liked eating seafood. It's not fattening and its good for the skin. In recent years, I have tried the "snow tomoto poison", "malachite green" but I'm also worried if my the "levels of lead in the blood is raising"!

When she first tried organic seafood, Shirley says: "There are few places where you can eat organic seafood. I didn't know they actually had organic seafood in Australia, Canada and America too, it all tastes so good! Fortunately, this food in low anaphylactogen, so I'm not worried at all. My mum would often buy organic food for me as well. I might go and buy some organic seafood myself later! It doesn't really matter if it's a bit expensive."

Shirley Yeung Doesn't Mind Pain When Playing Games

Yesterday, Bosco Wong and Shirley Yeung were recording for a TVB8 game show 《娛樂金剛圈》. "Forensic Heroes" Try Alternative Bowling

Cast members from TVB series "Forensic Heroes 2", including Bobby Au Yeung, Yoyo Mung, Sharon Chan, Shirley Yeung, Florence Kwok, Stephen Wong, Vivien Yeo and Leanne Li, went bowling on Thursday evening to promote the show, which is currently airing.

Sharon was not feeling very well, but still attended dressed in a small vest top and hot pants. During the game where the artistes tried some alternative methods of sending the bowling ball down the lane, Sharon was picked up by two of her male co-stars and almost exposed herself, but she insisted that she had a protective vest on underneath, so she was fine. Florence made sure that she was safe by holding her hand over her chest when it was her turn.

Bobby was asked about criticism from fans about the series sub-theme song, sung by female lead Charmaine Sheh, but he said that he had not heard the song, so he did not know how it went. However, he supported Charmaine, saying that she is a good singer when they go to karaoke together and she also had a song recorded on the TVB artiste album "Lady In Red", so even though she is not at professional singer standard, then she can still sing in tune.

Bobby also revealed that he will be recording the theme song shortly for his series "Your Class Or Mine", laughing that the song will have a R&B and Rap fusion. Asked if he is worried about poor feedback for his song, Bobby laughed that he has plenty of flaws anyway, so he will accept any criticism that comes his way.

Shirley said that she did not know about the poor reviews from netizens, but added that artistes should be encouraged to try lots of things. She expressed a wish to perform a duet with a male artiste.

Shirley states: "I haven’t heard Charmaine's singing but I believe that actors/actresses should be able to try different things in the industry. Of course there will be people who will either like or dislike your singing. Perhaps due to a tight schedule she was told to record the subtheme without any notice and didn't have enough time to practice. That's why I believe actors should practice singing in their free time.

Shirley hopes that if she has the opportunity to sing that there will people who will enjoy her singing. So far she hasn’t received any criticism towards her voice.

Wayne Lai Headlines New TVB Series

The blessing ceremony for new TVB series "New The Good, The Bad And The Ugly" was held today at TVB City, attended by many of the series leading stars including Wayne Lai, Sonija Kwok, Eric Suen, Shirley Yeung and Vivien Yeo.

Wayne will be taking on the leading character in the series and series producer Mui Siu Ching has been looking after him, arranging for some kissing scenes with Sonija. He said that after filming some argument scenes with Sonija, he has found that she is more mature now and her acting has improved a lot. Asked about the kissing scenes and whether or not he has had to explain himself to his wife, Wayne said that his wife has always been very supportive of his acting career, so she will not complain about these things. He laughed that she will only complain if his acting is bad.

Sonija appeared at the event with some clay flowers and she revealed that she has been taking lessons from Griselda Yeung in the craft for her character in the series. She added that she has become quite interested in the hobby and will do it after dinner or when she is watching TV. She smiled that Griselda, who once had a shop selling these handmade models, had also praised her work.

Reports have suggested that Shirley has bought herself a new car recently and she explained that she has had her old car for over five years, so she decided to buy a bigger 7-seater to give herself more space and she has even kitted out a small changing room in the car for convenience when she is working. She smiled that she has had plenty of opportunity to make money in the past year, so she sees this as a reward for her efforts. Asked why she did not go for a sports car instead, she said that they are impractical because you cannot carry passengers or any shopping!

After Leaving The "Refrigerator", Shirley Yeung Steps Back Onto Acting Road Without Giving Up

*Click on above image for a bigger view.

At the beginning of the year, did any dare to say they were "very stupid and naive"? However, if you used these terms to describe Shirley Yeung, not many people would disagree. Entering the entertainment circle for almost 7 years, it seems as if there isn't any use of her. She has always been the one who is very faithful in love and treats her family very well. Although Shirley is approaching 30 years of age, she still insists on people not calling her "Sze Kei Jie". She laughs: "'Sze Kei Mui' sounds more affectionate! I remember going on "Super Trio Show" where Eric Tsang would continually call me 'Sze Kei Jie'! I believe that I haven't reached that level yet so it makes people think I'm conceited! Moreover, I've always admired Sze Kei Jie and she is the one who can carry this name."

Even though Shirley has not reached Sze Kei Jie's achievements, she has been filming series one after the other ever since. Last year Shirley took on the role as a villain in "The Brink Of Law" which presented her skills - impressing many of the audience. In the series "Women Have Fun" (If You Believe In Fairytales) Shirley took home the Most Outstanding Actor Award at the 42nd Chicago International TV Festival in 2006. This allowed Shirley to initially taste the benefits of her acting career. She recalls back: "I heard that no Asian has won the award in 5 years! It was hard to even get nominated so I was really happy to be able to win the award."
