Shirley Yeung Relies On Michelle Yim To Take On Villainous Role

In order to promote upcoming series "The Brink Of Law", Ron Ng and Shirley Yeung recently flew over to Malaysia specially for this function. Ron reveals that its quite rare for him to finish watching a series but because "Brink" was such an amazing series and is a drama in which his role experiences much internal struggle, he had finished watching it all. This series was Shirley's first time playing a villainous role and she says that her character's heart is very small and narrow and therefore, will do anything for the benefit of herself.

"There are times where my villainous look and expression isn't done well, but luckily there is the experienced Michelle Yim there to advise me and this allowed me to successfully portray this role making so many the audience loving yet hating me." Shirley smiles that if there is another chance, she would like to play a villain again and will not state which artistes she would like to work with, just letting things be naturally.

Having played an evil role before, Ron expresses that it's because of a good script - he doesn't mind playing whichever role because actors should not be limited. Ron and Shirley will be in a new series together which starts filming in January. This new series is about going back to the future and other cast include Sunny Chan and Myolie Wu. There is also a chance that Shirley will be playing Ron's mum!

Every actor would hope that receiving awards will encourage them to do even better. However, Ron believes that it is fate between awards and the artiste and have always been waiting to receive good scripts like "Heart Of Greed" and "Moonlight Resonance". He also says that every actor should do their very best in whatever script they receive and shouldn't force themselves to film series in order to win awards.

Shirley takes Michelle as an example, waiting 40 years to receive the "Best Actress" award, because she believes that as long as she does her best in every series, that the audience will soon realise how hard she is trying. Shirley expresses that her upcoming jobs is like taking a vacation. Other than filming travelling programs, she has been flying to different countries for promotion and says that her new series "Pages Of Treasures" will soon be airing in December - other cast include Eric Suen, Vivien Yeo, etc.

[Lee] Sze Kei & [Yeung] Sze Kei Cannot Pass "Love" Stage

Although the two are not from the same generation, but Louise Lee and Shirley Yeung are both winners from a beauty pageant. Recently the two meet again playing the same role but different ages in "Moonlight Resonance". They both have different views on fame and fortune but one thing they do have in common, is being faithful in love. Women of which ever age will always be an enemy with the word "love".

Louise and Shirley reveal that they both entered the industry through a beauty pageant. Louise was 1968's "Hong Kong Princess", whereas Shirley was 2001's "Miss Hong Kong". Previously in "Moonlight", the producer saw similarities within the two and decided to ask Shirley to play Louise's younger version in the series. At first Louise was against this idea: "I have asked by the produce choose Sze Kei Mui? I think for one, she does not look like me - she is very petite. Also, I am a northener." Moreover, Shirley had always praised Louise for being very beautiful when she was young.

Since they are beautiful women, they will have pursuers. Louise talks about when she was young: "There used to be alot of guys who would chase after after but I didn't choose any of them because I only wanted someone who was truly kind to me. My mum wouldn't allow me to date either, and would tell me to see a few more others before deciding. However, I insisted being with a poor doctor, because before I married, my ex-husband's family had financial troubles, but I thought this guy was well-educated and treated me really well. I am not an inconsistent woman, in mandarin it's called 'dead heart eye'." As a result, Louise had to face two failed marriages.

You can say that through her experiences, Shirley can sympathise. Her mother had once tried "separate mandarin ducks" - forcing Shirley to break up with Gregory Lee. She explains that: "My mum never disagreed, but she definitely did remind me during school. Luckily in the end, she allowed me to develop relationships freely. I have always kept my relationships on a low-key and there was never alot guys who had pursued after me - even though I had alot of guy friends, they would discover my standpoint very quickly and therefore, we would not take a step further."

Sze Kei Jie has been in the entertainment circle for over 30 years and sees fame and fortune very faintly. Last year she took the title as "Best Actress" and rumors also followed. She says: "Last year they said that Suzanna Kwan and I did not get along. This year they say that I told on Raymond Lam to the executives, why would I do that? People do things while God watches, he can be my son! So starting from next year, I decided that I will not take part in the awards ceremony, and hope to give more chances to other people."

Louise's personality is that she cries out when there is injustice, whereas Shirley's is rather delicate - she will not make a voice when she is being teased. Louise laughs: "I believe she will get teased by others!" Embarrassed, Shirley explains: "From a very young age, my mum taught me to never say random things, if you do not understand, don't pretend that you do - you must listen carefully to what one says. Of course there are times when I am unhappy, I cry alot but after crying, everything will be okay because I have the support of family and friends."

Louise's daughter currently resides in Canada - mother and daughter separated on two completely different land and when she knows that Shirley and her family are living together, she says: "Shirley is such a nice girl, but because my daughter is not living with me, and if anything happens to her, I don't even know. However, I know that she is a very direct person and like me, she will make a sound if something wrong." Shirley will also treat her family with the greatest respect and care and is willing to give her complete income to her mother. She smiles: "Many people say that I am too frugal, but I only spend when I should. I don't mind supporting my family financially at all, when my family is happy, then I'm happy."

When Sze Kei Jie and Sze Kei Mui first meet, they are like old friends. However, who would've guessed that not only does Louise admire Shirley being a filial daughter and how pretty she is, but thinks her "child's voice" is very unique. Louise says: "Every person knows how to sing, but in order to entice people, you will need a very unique appeal. I really admire Shirley's voice - its extremely pure and the feeling I get from Shirley is a bit like Faye Wong's."

Shirley Yeung & Gregory Lee Go Out For Dessert

Last night at the anniversary, Shirley appeared in a beautiful low cut dress, but approximately 12:00am in the morning, she had covered all her sexiness and went with her boyfriend, Gregory Lee and a couple of friends to eat dessert at a restaurant at Kowloon City Prince Edward Road East.

They only stayed for half an hour and it was Gregory and other friends who left first and even stayed around at the front for a chat. Five minutes later, Shirley stepped in the passager seat of seven-seater car whereas Gregory was the driver, driving off to Kowloon Tong.

TVB 41st Anniversary Extravaganza

TVB celebrated its 41st birthday this evening with the annual Anniversary Extravaganza and proceedings were opened in the traditional way with an appearance and lighting up ceremony by the station's founder Sir Run Run Shaw, assisted by MCs and "big sisters" Liza Wang and Carol Cheng.

101-year old Sir Run Run then retired to the audience with wife Mona Fong and board director Mrs Christina Lee to enjoy the entertainment laid on by over a hundred of his artistes and performers. Miss Hong Kong winners Edelweiss Cheung and Sire Ma also kept him company throughout the evening.

The show was opened by a parade featuring all of the artistes, who were dressed in a variety of Chinese and Western period costumes to take part in a traditional ballroom dance.

One of the more unusual acts during the evening was by Timmy Hung's group, consisting of Stephen Wong, Francois Huynh , Sharon Luk and Lee Heung Kam. Each artiste took it in turn to use a trampoline to jump up and write a calligraphy character on a high board. Their creation formed the greeting "Like the sun at high noon", representing TVB's current success. Former stuntman Eric Tsang gallantly took the place of Kam to put up the last piece of the message - a birthday candle.

Liza continued her string of modern dance performances, this time joining Ron Ng, Nancy Wu, Michael Tse and Kate Tsui for a hip-hop routine and the veteran seemed to be just as active and full of vitality as her juniors, vigorously shaking her body during the act.

The comedy element was provided by the cast members of this year's most popular drama "Moonlight Resonance", including Lee Si Kei, Susanna Kwan, Ha Yu, Michelle Yim, Raymond Lam, Moses Chan and Bosco Wong who were joined by Eric, Charmaine Sheh, Myolie Wu and Christine Ng for the anniversary sketch. As usual, the script was soon thrown out of the window and a lot of chaos, messiness and improvisation ensued, but everyone had a good time and many laughs were had. Ha Yu, Raymond and Wayne Lai had prepared for the worst by wearing raincoats, but with the mischievous Eric soon found a way to make sure that they were both splattered with cream cake.

Falling victim to Eric's pranks twice, Susanna laughed afterwards that she was not upset and was game for a laugh because everyone was having so much fun. She was relieved that her sponsored jewellery had escaped being damaged by the cream.

Master impersonators Louis Yuen, Johnson Lee and Wong Cho Lam paid tribute to the late Lydia Sum, re-enacting her iconic performance with the other TVB "Golden Flowers".

Among this year's lucky winners of the Anniversary Bonus were Charmaine, who won HK$25,000 and Shirley Yeung, taking second prize of HK$50,000. The top prize of HK$120,000 went to a very shocked and ecstatic Grace Wong.

In this climax to the anniversary month celebrations, the ladies made the most of the opportunity to show off their sponsors' jewellery. Leading the way in terms of value was Si Kei, who wore a set of rubies and diamonds worth HK$40 million. Liza displayed a set of jewellery worth HK$20 million that included an unusual pear shaped diamond ring, worth HK$8.5 million on its own. Her hosting partner Carol modelled a set of rubies weighing in a total of 41 carats and worth HK$18 million. She said that she had arranged her outfit with Liza in advance and had agreed that they will both wear celebratory red to resemble two big lucky packets.

After wowing the crowds with her revealing dress at the anniversary awards ceremony, Sonija Kwok's outfit seemed a lot more reserved. She explained that the last outfit was already her limit in terms of sexiness. Wearing sponsored jewellery to the value of HK$20 million, Sonija was asked about recent reports that she has been dating a Raymond Lam-lookalike. She said that the person in the pictures was a friend and she was not dating. She then asked for the press not to disturb him because he is not from showbiz circles.

Still playing along with the rumours, Charmaine was arranged to perform with rumoured boyfriend Kevin Cheng and the couple seemed very relaxed during their duet. She showed off jewellery worth HK$11.4 million.

Jewellery worn by Myolie Wu totalled HK$11.3 million and Fala Chen and Sharon Chan also received sponsorships worth several million dollars. Susanna's diamond set was not quite as valuable as Si Kei's or Liza's, but was still extremely eyecatching.

The evening was rounded off by the cutting of a giant birthday cake by Mrs Li as the executives joined the artistes in raising a glass to the next 12 months.

2009 TVB Sales Presentation Held

The first of this year's TVB red carpet anniversary events took place this evening at TVB City as the station's artistes gathered in their fineries for the 2009 TVB Sales Presentation. In this preview event for prospective sponsors and advertising clients to take a peek at the forthcoming series and planned productions, the station also took the opportunity to showcase some of its artistes and the strength of its drama franchises.

Hosted by TVB General Manager Stephen Chan and Amigo Chui, this year's show featured dance performances from the "Moonlight Resonance" and "The Gem Of Life" cast members and a show of muscles from a group of TVB's leanest and meanest male artistes. In the usual tradition to check on their status standings within the company, much attention was paid to the order in which the artistes made their final parade onto the stage for the last celebratory photocall. However, there was particular focus this year on rumoured couple Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh who entered the stage hand in hand just behind Liza Wang, Carol Cheng, Michael Miu and Bowie Lam.

Clips were also shown offering highlights of series that are planned for production or airing in 2009. After quiet years for Ron Ng and Myolie Wu, they both led in terms of output for the coming year with four new series each. Myolie was particularly excited because this will tie in well with the launch of her music career and she hopes this will be a boost for her. Asked if she hopes to win music newcomer awards next year with her rumoured boyfriend Bosco Wong, she smiled that it would be great to win any award.

Ron said that he was thrilled at the opportunity to have four series earmarked for next year and hoped that this will give his popularity a much needed boost. Asked if he will be avoiding gossip, he said that these things are unavoidable, but he will concentrate on his work.

Also with four series planned for next year, Moses Chan smiled that he was very fortunate and happy. He said that he is shameless and he will continue to film new series as long as he keeps getting paid.

Ada Choi, Shirley Yeung and Tavia Yeung emerged among the most eyecatching of the ladies in this first TVB glamour event. Ada wore a low cut wine-coloured evening dress contrasted against HK$4 million diamond jewellery provided by her sponsors Baijue Jewellers. Asked if she felt that it was unusual for her to be placed in the front row of the parade even though she is not TVB managed, she smiled that she has always had a strong relationship with the company, so this arrangement was not a surprise.

Tavia looked elegantly confident in her HK$30,000 scarlet Donna Karan gown. Asked if she was hoping to take an award at the anniversary awards ceremony on Saturday, she smiled that she has already made a healthy income this year, but if she was to win an award too, then this would be the icing on the cake. Shirley wore a revealing halter-neck dress that showed off her back and shoulders, as well as a sneaky patch of her abdomen.

Among the fashion faux-pas of the evening were Kate Tsui who seemed to be sporting a string of eggs around her neck and Yoyo Mung, whose olive-green dress was a complete colour clash with 'big sis' Liza's mandarin-style dress. Yoyo responded by saying that the dress was from a sponsor and she never imagined that someone else would wear such an unusual colour.

The next event in the TVB Anniversary calendar will take place on Saturday evening, when the winners of the TVB Anniversary Awards will be revealed.

Shirley Yeung Starts Filming Next Year

Being a hot favourite to win an award at this years 41st TVB Anniversary, Lee Sze Kei arrived at Jacqueline Law's wedding store with Shirley Yeung to find their gowns for the big night. Last year, Sze Kei Jie wore a bright red dress and won the "Best Actress Award", and seeing that tried on a red dress this year, she smiles: "This year I might choose to wear gold or silver, giving the viewers a fresh new look!" (How would you prepare the "battle" beforehand?) "Last night, I have already started to eat half a bowl of rice to lose some weight!" (Are you confident?) "There will be more competition this year, because I did win the award last year already. There is this saying where I am 'confident but there is no chance'!"

Shirley, on the other hand will be performing a dance at the Sales Presentation along with Bernice Liu and Angela Tong. She says: "I'm sure that there will be alot of people there that night. My main role this year is the host of the variety show programs. I will also be probably filming next year. I do hope that I will receive a good script."
